At the beginning of the 20th century, sidewalks and street trees were considered the sign of a fine neighborhood. Cliff Cannon has a complete grid of sidewalks. Many of our sidewalks are over 115 years old and in need of repair.
The sidewalks are usually separated from the road by a 3’-10’ wide planting area and there is an abundant number of shade trees.
Between 1992 and 2012 many ADA curb cuts were installed and some of the worst sidewalks were repaired in Historic Cannon’s Addition with Community Development Block Grant Funds (CDBG).
The Cliff Cannon Neighborhood Council (CCNC) agreed that sidewalks are vital infrastructure where it is estimated 40% of residents do not own or use cars for transportation. CCNC can no longer direct CDBG funds to sidewalk repairs.
CCNC will continue to discuss this issue with our elected officials as we seek parody for sidewalk repairs in older areas that compete with road repairs and new roads for cars as the City expands.
Centennial Trail: The portion passing through Kendall Yards, in the West Central Neighborhood, is the closest access to the Cliff Cannon Neighborhood residents.

The lanes do exist but are not well connected. Some lanes are identified with broad white striping but be aware that some vehicles mistake this space for a parking strip.
There are also some green paint lanes for bikes downtown.

Generally in Cliff Cannon, if you know who owns the car or it moves at least twice a month do NOT report it.
Most residential areas in Cliff Cannon have only on-the-street-parking.
If the unmoving vehicle [especially one that obviously cannot be driven] is in a prime parking spot and has been there for over a week, either talk to the owner and ask them to move it or report it after it has been there a week.
Once you have reported a vehicle, check after ten days or so, to see if it was yellow tagged by the City.
If not yellow tagged, report it again, and again, and again if needed.
